"I
Want To Be Rich!"
"Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers
from
death."
Proverbs
11:4 NKJV
Thousands of books have been written on how to become rich and stay
rich. Is there a problem with being rich? Of course not! But
what purpose would God have for giving one riches? What would
be the purpose of such a blessing? If we take into account
the Bible, we can find an example in the life of Solomon.
God gave Solomon, King of Israel, all the riches he could stand.
What did he do with all his riches? One thing he did was spend
it on building a temple to praise and honor God. This is a
good reason to have money: to bless those that don't have it, and
to honor God in the futherance of His work throughout the world.
The Bible makes it clear that our riches will not profit
us in the day of wrath. If riches will not profit us, what
will profit us in the day of wrath, and more than that; what "day
of wrath" is the word referring to?
First let's look at the word righteousness. To have righteousness,
it must come from God, through Christ. This righteousness
is not something that can be gained or earned or bought. It
only comes as a gift, in reaction to our repentance from sin and
through Christ's death and resurrection some 2,000 years ago. This
"Day of Wrath" that the writer of Proverbs is referring
to is the day when God judges the sins of the world. "So
what do riches have to do with it?" you may ask. On the
"Day of Wrath," when God justifies the world by condemning
the unrepentant and saving the repentant, it is not going to be
your riches that will save you. It will not be that bigger house,
or that newer automobile or that raise at work that will save you.
It will not be that wardrobe that you longed for that will save
you. It will only be the righteousness that was given to you as
a gift when you humbly bowed before the King of Kings that will
save you. If you have not already, repent and turn to Christ today.
May God Bless You,
